After 12 years in the IT business, the stress and office atmosphere were literally killing me. I took the test, got called up to be a rural carrier for the USPS, and took the physical. I was turned down due to some old injuries and associated arthritis. Based on this, I probably could have gone on the SSI dole, however that didn’t sit well.
What I did was hit the weights and bicycle to get my strength up, went back to old skills and started a home renovation, remodeling and handyman business. That was 2003. It’s been a really rocky road, but today I have a successful business where I am currently turning down jobs because I simply do not have the resources to do them. If I could find reliable people to contract for me, I could create more jobs this year than zero has in the last 3 1/2.
The point of this is simply, don’t give up, and don’t give in and accept their graft, or you’ll never see that good thing waiting just around the corner.

I have a buddy who runs a cleaning service and he told me a few years ago that he could TRIPLE his business but he cannot find reliable workers! They’re too frigging lazy. He was even going to make partners out of them. I told him to hire vets only.
