The shot of her inside the racecar on lap 2 when she wrecked,LETTING GO of the wheel was priceless.Sometimes there is nothing you can do but hang on. But,it looked like she could have made an attempt to save it on that wide apron down there. To the point,ANYONE putting ANY stock in her political views is simply moronic.
I saw that pic and laughed. Sometimes a pretty face and no brain is just that.
In that pic, she is doing the CORRECT thing. Her training in open wheel racing came through. When spinning toward the wall with no hope of controlling before the impact, the driver should pull hands away from the steering wheel. To NOT do so risks breaking the wrist when the wheel jerks to one side upon impact.
As for her wrecks at Daytona, not a single one was caused by her. She was the victim in every one of them. She may not be the best driver in NASCAR, but she is definitely more talented than a lot of ‘em. I’d take her over Juan Pablo Montoya anytime. If she gets a crew chief that she works well with and a pretty good pit crew, she will have more success in NASCAR than she had in Indy car.

In Indy car, she was with Andretti-Green Racing. That team is quite dysfunctional and definitely NOT one of the top two teams. At AGR, she was always in their 3rd or 4th best car, with their 3rd or 4th best crew and crew chief. The dropoff from the #1 car/crew combination to the #3 is much bigger in Indy car than it is in Nationwide and Sprint Cup. Just a few years ago, Jimmy Johnson was the #3 driver/team at Hendrick Motorsports, behind Jeff Gordon and Terry Labonte. She will end the season in the top-10 in the Nationwide Series this year. When she moves to Sprint Cup full-time, she will be middle of the pack for a couple of years, but then again being mid-pack in that series means you have a very good driver-crew-crew chief-car combination. She will be the #3 car at Stewart-Hass Racing, learning from Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman.

There are others who have gotten rides in NASCAR, Indy car, or ARCA because they are female (Sarah Fisher and Shawna Robinson come to mind), but Patrick actually has the talent to compete. As for her political views….she’s a good driver, model, and commercial actress.
